Galvasten Island

After Steve's graduation we went down to Gavlasten. I didn't know it was an island. It is only about 1 hour out of Houston. I didn't get very many pictures. The kids weren't cooperating. I guess they were having too much fun. We stayed about 2 1/2 hours is all. Then the thunder, lightening and wind started. We started packing everything up and getting as much sand off as we could. As we closed the last door to the Suburban the first rain drop hit. And then it was like a hurricane. We were stuck on the bridge with lightening, wind & darkness. I could see the ocean beneath us...it was really scary until we got off the bridge. It took us about 2 hours to get back to Houston.

This is Steve trying to put up the canopy. We bought a more expense canopy cause we wanted a good one. We discovered that when all the sand (from our previous trip to the ocean in Corpse Cristi) gets in the parts it just doesn't matter how much money you spend on one. We will be getting a different one. We couldn't get it apart when we were trying to leave. Steve was almost ready just to leave it on the beach and let the storm have it. But we prevailed. We won't be using it again though.
